Yes, quite different genre to define, as you might've noticed.
Serenity (not to be confused with the UK traditional doom band with the same name) is a progressive power metal band from Austria.
They are known to use symphonic and melodic elements in their music as well, and I think their sound is quite original (even the vocals are unlike anything I've ever heard).
Their album Words Untold & Dreams Unlived got them some recognition, but hardly enough.
In late August Serenity is striking back with a vengeance however, since their upcoming album is looking to become a great album that, according to Napalm Records, could force scene greats such as Kamelot and Sonata Arctica to step aside.
Anyway, even if you don't like power metal, definately do try them, since I'd define their sound as symphonic/melodic metal with progressive elements rather than power metal.
