1. Intro

2. Der Hinterhalt (the ambush)

Today was the day, on which the Romans had to fear our wrath
they set us against theirselves
Varus was that foolish to believe, victory would be surely theirs
but he had to bloody see whose sword was faster!

The green idyll was soaked through with red breath
the trees were scarred with war's marks
brothers and enemies lay on the ground, without any sign of life
but Donar was with us - his strength on our side!

On their way to their winter storage the troops of Varus
went through lands they did not know
and their alleged ally Arminius
- who planned the Roman's campaign - rode in front.
In the land of gulches and swamps
the Germanic Tribes attacked
and lured the inferior Romans into their end!

3. Im Auge des Sturms (In the centre of the storm)

The fog is rising, the see is whipping,
it does not hurt to leave home
hearts of steel, we're sailing in front
on bloody ways, onehundred men!

Glorious doings we will fulfill,
when the horns yell in battle,
Hail Thor, you will guide us,
when we ride armed into battle!

As soon the friary is arrived,
the fog and his shadows give us way,
it shreds the air, awful the wrath,
as thunder rolls from the Norsemen' horn!

In the Christians' eyes were a thorn,
soon they'll feel our awful wrath,
no mourning for the dead, they fell in battle,
and will arise on Wotan's table!

4. Schicksalsschlacht (the battle of fate)

With thunderous roar we storm the enemy,
our irons are grinded, now it's time to fight,
the Æsir are on our side, guiding our blows,
our superiority lets them lose their courage!

But still the question, do we get to Valhalla?
Do we derserve to move in?
we give everything - our strength and our lives,
but we don't know our destiny!

The battle will not end today,
bravely we stay in fight, whatever may come,
devotion to our brothers, grant us new power,
when the valkyries come, they'll carry us off.

5. Midwinter (Midwinter)

Nothing can afflict the feast today,
when the snow keeps wine cask cold,
Innkeeper, pour out much
to flush our throats!
The potion does our spirits good,
grants us warmth and pleasure,
and our minds get freed,
on this nicest of all days!

Even our ancestors knew
how to construe this event,
they took it as the gods' meed,
and called it Midwinter!
The first cold frost has come,
no one wants to fight!
Nature's smiling about us,
so fill our horns!

Everyone's cheered up,
and some are still lying on the ground,
everyone celebrated copiously,
and no one will leave tonight!

6. Schlacht auf Samsey (The battle of Samsey)

Forsooth Hjalmar claimed the luck,
but his rival in love could not understand that,
so he challanged Hjalmar to a fight of life and death,
because he pledged his life for her love!

Angantyr felt victorious with the Thyrfing by his side,
and his eleven Berserker did well in the battle,
Hjalmar chose Odd as his brother in arms
and took many others to the Battle on Samsey!

The ships filled with brave men arrived at the coast
as the first berserkers attacked the crew,
Odd and Hjalmar did not see what happend,
and as they arrived on Samsey they saw the bloody battlefield!

Angantyr felt victorious with the Thyrfing by his side,
and his eleven Berserker did well in the battle,
Hjalmar chose Odd as his brother in arms
and took many others to the Battle on Samsey!

Hjalmar was not afraight and prefered to fight the tyrant,
sure he was inferior, but his temerity strengthend him,
Odd enchanted his silken shirt, to get harder than every coat of mail,
and then he attacked full of wrath the disgraced berserkerbrood!

Odd killed one by one with unerring hits,
he started with Hjörward and soon they were all dead,
No blade could reach his untouched body,
so then he looked to Hjalmar and saw, he was victorious.

The battle on Samsey was gloriously won and
Angantyr lay dead and smirched with blood on the ground,
Hjalmar's cracked chainmail showed his bloody death,
And so Odd left the battle as the only survivor.
